Happy April!

This winter doesn’t seem to quit, but I am confident that April will see higher temperatures and some beautiful spring days that are a welcome relief from the harsh winter we have endured.

April is PSSA month across the state, so please provide your child with as much support and encouragement as possible.  Getting a good night’s sleep and a complete breakfast will help your child perform to his/her fullest.  To help with this, free breakfast will be available to all test takers during PSSA testing. Third and fourth grade will have Reading/Writing PSSA tests on Mon-Thurs, April 13-16 followed by Math on Mon-Wed, April 20-22.  Fourth grade also has Science assessments on Mon and Tues, April 27th and 28th.

March was a busy, but rewarding month at Stiegel.  Our PTO and staff were very active with many activities for our students and families, including our annual book fair, Family Reading Night and sponsoring our All-Pro Dads Movie at Penn Cinema.  April will be a quieter month for our PTO, but please mark your calendar for April 6th and our monthly meeting in our library at 6:30 p.m.

Last month we included a statement about email excusals in our newsletter.  The school district does not allow email excusals, as all excusals must be signed by the parent/guardian.  Please accept my apologies for the incorrect information we published.

Wishing you a warm April!

Dr. Seth H. Kensinger
